Before the creation of the world, God eternally existed in a magnificent celebration of life and self-giving love between the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This was the triune God for all eternity!
The triune nature of God is one of the greatest mysteries of the Bible, as we will see in this video series. Yet the importance of this doctrine cannot be overemphasized. Correctly understanding and applying this truth is essential to our personal Christian lives and to our life together as a Church.

How does this transform us?
As you seek to know our triune God, pray Ephesians 3:16-19 for yourself. Here’s a version of that passage to guide you:
“I pray that out of Your glorious riches You may strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart through faith. And I pray that I, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:16-19, edited for personal prayer)
Consider this question: What has “knowing God” meant to you practically? Has your understanding of “knowing God” revolved around:
Participation in church events and ministry work
Wonderful emotional experiences of peace and joy
Outward conformity to the expectations of others
Performing religious rituals
Knowing about God
Other things …?
God’s command in Exodus 20:3, “You shall have no other gods before Me,” is for us today as well. We may not have gods of wood or stone like people did in ancient times, but we have plenty of “other gods” in our own modern context to contend with.
Take a moment to evaluate your relationship with “other gods.”
What things are you and those in your context personally tempted to make into gods? For example, money, sports, etc.
Which of these gods holds a big influence over the decisions and worries of your own life?
What are the consequences when you trust in these gods instead of the true God?
Confess any idolatry to God, and repent. Pray that He would be the only God in your life, and that He would release you from false ways of knowing Him.
Then give Him glory in worship!
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)
