The crucifixion of Jesus reveals a breathtaking truth: God sovereignly ordained the Cross, yet every person involved acted freely and is morally accountable. Scripture shows again and again that God’s eternal plan and human responsibility run in parallel — never contradicting, never canceling each other.
In this video, we walk through Acts, the Gospels, John 19, Romans 6, and more to see how Judas, the soldiers, and the leaders fulfilled God’s plan even while choosing their own actions. This teaching beautifully displays how God’s sovereignty and human responsibility meet at the Cross and why both are essential treasures for every believer.
How does this transform us?
The reality of eternal judgment was demonstrated in the crucifixion of Jesus, who took our punishment upon Himself that we might live. This reality should create in us a fear of God that reaches out to others to tell them how they might escape this judgment through Christ’s sacrifice!
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men … (2 Corinthians 5:10-11)
Cry out to God for the lost — for people you know who do not know Jesus, and for people in your city and nation — that God would have mercy on them and save them.
Ask God to break your heart with His compassion for the lost. Pray that God would show you creative ways to engage in evangelism as a lifestyle and how you could be intentional in engaging with the lost on a daily basis.
Then go out and do it! Share the Gospel with someone you encounter this week.
